Progress

Good morning! The past few days have been a great combination of productivity and relaxation. I’ve made time for running, reading and cooking (including this amazing carrot ginger soup) and somehow managed not to lose my mind in the midst of planning a 400-person gala at work (so far…) In addition to getting my wedding dress this week, we’ve also secured our wedding photographer! This was a really important decision for us. These are the pictures that we’ll have for the rest of our lives, that we’ll show our grandkids, so it was important that  we found someone who could capture that day in a beautiful and unique way. We also really wanted someone whose style was different. No prom pictures, please. We could not be more excited about Cassidy Duhon! Not only has he photographed at Bluemont before, but he has a really unique aesthetic. Check out some of his pictures from another gorgeous Bluemont wedding here. One thing checked off the list. 50 more  to go.

Alright, off to work. It’s supposed to be 62 degrees today…maybe we’ll have class outside today?

To Make You Smile

I know some of my last posts have been a little down, but this morning I’m determined to try and regroup. I’m going on a run, doing laundry, going grocery shopping and getting organized for the week. In honor of a fresh start, I thought I would share some of the posts around the web that have made me smile this week.

this Golden Gate Bridge Dinner Party. Guess my invitation got lost in the mail…

this adorable wedding brunch.

this guide on how to throw a proper pity party. Because let’s face it, sometimes they are just completely necessary.

this beautiful backyard wedding from younghouselove. So sweet.

this stunning trip to Turkey. (This one’s for you, soulmate!)

this list of 20 resolutions for 20-somethings. LOVE.

Off to enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Re-Charging

Today was a combination of the highest highs and the lowest lows. The best and most exciting part: I bought my wedding dress. It hasn’t fully sunk it yet, but I am absolutely in love and over the moon about it :) I was lucky enough to have my mom, sister and nana there when I made the final choice. I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: If you are ever in the market for a wedding dress, GO TO HITCHED. I can’t express in words how charming of a store and amazing of a staff they have.

The second part of the day isn’t something I really want to discuss on F&F, but I will share how much of an appreciation it gave me for the amazing people in my life. Lately, it’s felt like life has been moving at lightning speed. Things have been happening so fast, and I need to remind myself to stop and see the incredible and unique things the people in my life have to offer, and how lucky I am to know them. Appreciate the small gestures, recognize the subtle genius, look for the good. It’s really incredible how long you can know someone and never truly know what makes them so special. Don’t take one day with your loved ones for granted.

After an extremely draining 24 hours, I want nothing more than to curl up on the couch with a good movie and some Shake Shack. Wedding dress diet starts tomorrow…

So if you’ll excuse me, I have to go drink some wine and eat these:

Have a wonderful Saturday night :)
