Dirty Martini

This week has been a massive game of catch-up, both at work and at home. Laundry finally got done, emails finally got returned, and fresh fruit has officially returned to the kitchen. (It’s truly sick how happy the sight of our stocked, organized refrigerator can make me. Especially when it’s filled with practically every flavor of Chobani yogurt and enough Edamame hummus to feed a small village.) J & I celebrated Valentine’s Day at a new-to-us restaurant in Dupont Circle called Dirty Martini. We’re really trying to cut down on the money we spend going out to dinner, so we try to use our nights out to go to places we haven’t been before.  Dirty Martini has been on our list for awhile, and while I don’t think I’d return for dinner again, the ambiance and the martinis were well worth it, and perfect for a romantic date night.

Let’s be honest, any restaurant with a menu of over 30 variations of martinis is Ok in my book. And any day that includes yellow tulips being delivered to my work is bound to be a good one :)

Maybe I’m still coming down from a Valentine’s Day high, or maybe it’s because this week has gone surprisingly quickly (despite being incredibly busy) but I’ve been feeling quite inspired lately. Especially by the following:

this upcoming trip to Spain/Portugal/Morocco. It’s inspired me to do a recap of my summer in Seville, coming soon!

these images from the first in the Kinfolk dinner series. Oh, how I need a house big enough to host a dinner party of more than 4 guests. And for Kinfolk to style my life.

this amazing kitchen remodel. Have I mentioned how badly I want a house? And having one ounce of the creativity and ingenuity of younghouselove wouldn’t hurt…

this theory on how to raise kids like a French woman. I’d like to think I’ll be chic enough to follow some of these parenting rules one day. (Many, many days from now. Deep breaths, mom & dad.)
